Skip to the contentAre you looking for a way to make sense of whatever is currently going on for you now? Are you just wanting a moment to catch your breath, but frightened that if you stop, you're going to drop the life balls you're juggling with? I understand how overwhelming this can feel. If you can allow yourself a little time and courage to get in touch with me, as a Counsellor I can help you make sense.
We can arrange to meet in person or online at a mutually convenient time, including Saturday mornings.
Whether it's for you or a loved one, I'm confident that counselling can help in some way, whether it's through listening, companionship, exploring solutions, helping you to better understand yourself or others, assisting with coping strategies, or referring you to a more suitable service.
Everything is completely confidential and non-judgmental in a secure environment where you can share your experience and feelings at your own pace.
There are a million reasons why people seek counselling, such as to unload their emotional burden, explore the causes of their unhappiness, anxiety, or depression, reconnect with buried or lost emotions, find their true selves, be more, feel more, re-connect with others or themselves, better understand others or themselves, improve relationships, to grieve, grow, empower, change, or simply to be heard and understood.
Regardless of the cause, you are not alone. Counselling is a wonderful way to take time for yourself by communicating with someone outside your circle of family and friends, expressing and exploring your concerns, and being accepted without criticism. If you wish, we can work towards a goal, or you can learn new coping mechanisms or ways to value yourself.

In your first session with me, there are several key things to expect as we embark on this therapeutic journey together. It's important to remember that this initial session is primarily about establishing a foundation for our work together and ensuring that you feel comfortable and informed throughout the process.
We will begin the session by mutually agreeing on a working contract. This contract outlines the boundaries and expectations of our counselling relationship. It's a collaborative effort to ensure that both you and I are on the same page regarding confidentiality, session duration, fees, cancellation policies, and the overall goals of our sessions.
You may be asked to complete a questionnaire or assessment tool. This helps us understand your current emotional state, concerns, and goals. It serves as a benchmark for our progress and provides valuable insights into your unique situation. The information you provide will remain confidential and is solely intended to guide our sessions.
You are in control of your counselling journey. You may have never experienced counselling before, and it's completely normal to feel nervous or anxious about discussing personal matters. You have the autonomy to decide what you're comfortable sharing at your own pace. We will work together to create a safe and supportive environment where you can open up when you feel ready.
During this first session, we might explore the feelings and thoughts you're currently experiencing. You can share as much or as little as you'd like, and we will work together to identify areas of concern and potential goals for our counselling sessions.
It's important to understand that the therapeutic relationship doesn't have a predetermined time scale. The number of sessions and the duration of our work together will be based on your unique needs and goals. We will regularly review our progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure you receive the support you require.
Building trust is a crucial aspect of our therapeutic relationship. Trust takes time to develop, and our first session is a stepping stone toward establishing a strong and supportive connection. Your comfort and confidentiality are paramount, and I am here to support you throughout this process.
Towards the end of our first session, we will discuss what you hope to achieve through counselling and potential areas of focus for future sessions. This will help us set the stage for the work we will do together in subsequent meetings.
Remember that counselling is a collaborative effort, and I am here to provide a non-judgmental, empathetic, and supportive space for you to explore your thoughts and emotions. Our first session is the beginning of a journey toward personal growth, self-discovery, and improved well-being.
I can offer professional emotional support, helping you explore and make sense of the things which are troubling you, helping you find that space to stop, pause, breathe and continue. I look forward to talking to you, thank you.
